Mr. Abdul Mannan Helali, the Joint Secretary/ Manager of Darul Musannefin Shibli Academy has contributed immensely due to his committed and selfless services. He was born on 31st January, 1930 in Towa village in Azamgarh district. He obtained most of his degrees including those of B.A and M.A from Shibli National College, Azamgarh. Since childhood he demonstrated tremendous literary skills. In his college days he served as Chief Editor of the S. N. College magazine. Initially, he used to write science articles for children that were published in reputed Urdu Magazines like Alhasnat. Later he started composing thought-provoking articles as well as poetry. His pen name Helali (helal = moon) is a testimony to his literary pursuit. After graduation Abdul Mannan Saheb did L.L.B but could not continue further in the field due to his very straightforward and candid nature. Later he obtained his B. Ed and M. Ed degrees from Aligarh Muslim University in 1957 and 1959 and spent a memorable time in V. M. Hall while residing in Room No. zero of Nasrullah Hostel. Due to his talent and literary flavour he again performed the duties of Magazine Editor. Finally in 1959 he was appointed as a faculty of Shibli National College where he was soon identified as an excellent teacher. He also served as an Incharge of B. Ed Department and due to his honest and sincere attitude, held the responsible position of the Chairman, Purchase Committee. Besides, Abdul Mannan Saheb also served as Hostel Superintendent. His extraordinary administrative capabilities were revealed when he acted as Principal and Vice Principal of Shibli National College. He further performed the difficult task of monitoring the examinations by serving as University Examination Superintendent of Purvanchal University.
After serving his Alma Mater with dedication and humility, Mr. Abdul Mannan Helali retired in 1990. However, he was assigned another responsible position by Mr. Shah Ghulam Khalid who happened to be an active member of Shibli Academy then. As a result, just after leaving Shibli National College, Mr. Helali joined its sister organization, Darul Musannefin Shibli Academy as a Manager/Joint Secretary. Sadly, after three days of his joining Khalid Saheb passed away and the event left him depressed and reluctant to perform the newly assigned job. However, people persuaded him to carry on by saying that earlier it was the desire of Khalid Saheb to induct him as a Manager but later it became his will. Since then Mr. Helali has taken up this challenging task of management with great passion and dedication. In order to avoid the delay in publication of Maarif Magazine due to unavailability of Katibs he initiated the process of computerization to facilitate its timely printing. Mr. Abdul Mannan Helali is still busy in maintaining and grooming the beautiful and precious heritage, known as Darul Musannefin Shibli Academy.
